Toronto Loft Conversions & New Loft Projects Massey Harris Lofts - 915 King Street West The Massey Harris Lofts, constructed in 1883, the red brick office building was designed by Edward James Lennox, one of Toronto's leading architects who would go on to design Old City Hall. For close to a century, it served the company as it evolved into Massey-Ferguson and eventually Varity Corp. In 1973, the building was listed as a heritage property by the City. Located at 915 King Street West, the Massey Harris Lofts feature 11 foot ceiling and vintage brick walls. Lofts feature baths with all glass shower and radiant floor heating. A true loft conversion that is always highly desired. The Massey Harris Lofts is a stunning 46 unit conversion of the old 1883 Massey Harris farm equipment headquarters, completed in 2003 by Canderel Stoneridge. Kitchens and bathrooms are by Cecconi Simone, and some bathrooms were created out of the old payroll vaults, with vaulted metal ceilings. Other features include exposed brick walls, wood posts and beams, and radiant heated floors. New construction of two storey penthouses with large terraces were added on top. In a way, the real estate boom in the 1980s probably saved King West from permanent desolation. Artists, fashion designers, animators, filmmakers, musicians, photographers and members of the burgeoning computer arts found that the creaky industrial skeletons were cheap and had the space needed to satisfy their muse. Much of the barren industrial area was rezoned for residential use in 1996. And then came the lofts. It started with the 46-unit Massey Harris Lofts, a conversion of a factory office building completed in 2002 by Canderel-Stoneridge Equity Group. The success of the Massey Harris project spawned an upsurge in loft projects in the area, which notably includes the Toy Factory Lofts.
